He will, as good men have always done, take on his responsibility in unpaid labour by creating and maintaining of a family environment. His part is to, in various ways; create a family environment by building and maintaining a family home and reducing costs. A good mother's place in this is to assist where she can be in that family. A mother’s necessary support to the family is not in the second job but where an equally large portion of the workload for creating and maintaining a family is – in the home. Nothing really has changed when it come to raising children and creating a home for the family. Parents disregard this fact at their children's peril. Additionally, if men’s unpaid labour is to include housework, it will detract from what they can do in other areas and all family members will suffer. Hard as it is to accept, in a time when modern appliances and products reduce housekeeping/parenting time and effort, women should not be avoiding their part in unpaid labour. A mother in the workplace, as research shows, is at the expense of the family and her absence in the home is a mechanism for its decay. The Fatherhood Foundation sounds like a great idea. A lot of families still struggle on in the old fashioned way, with mum doing most of the parenting. While this was acceptable years ago in the days of "dad works, mum stays home", it doesn't apply now when most families have both parents working. Even in families where mum does still stay home, I think it's necessary for fathers to be more in touch with the kids than they were in the past. Six apostrophes, five of them unnecessary…………
